Getting connected
What do I enter on the "Connect your data" screen?
The address of your Nightscout site (for example https://my-site.example.com), and an access token. Create the token in Nightscout under Admin Tools › Subjects, with the "readable" role. Choose mmol/L or mg/dL, then tap Test and connect.
Access token or API secret?
An access token with the "readable" role is enough to see your readings and is the safer choice. Use the API secret, or a token with the "careportal" role, only if you also want to log treatments such as carbs from the app.
The test fails with "Not authorised"
The token or secret doesn't match the site. Copy the token again from Admin Tools, without spaces, and check that the switch between access token and API secret is set to the kind you are pasting.
Can I use something other than Nightscout?
Yes, any server that offers the Nightscout API, including the Monitor Glucose server you can host yourself. The app needs to read glucose entries, and optionally treatments and device status.
Readings and alarms
How often does the app update?
Every 60 seconds by default, and whenever you open it. A new reading only appears once your CGM uploader has sent it to your Nightscout site, so the app is never faster than the site itself. You can change the interval in Settings.
What do the flashing messages on the top line mean?
When no new reading or loop has arrived for 10 minutes, the top line shows the most likely reason:
- No Internet
- Your phone can't reach the internet. Check Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Site down
- The internet works but your Nightscout site doesn't answer. Check the site in a browser or with its host.
- No CGM data
- The site answers but has no recent reading. Check your sensor, its app and your uploader.
- Loop not looping
- Readings arrive but your Loop, Trio or AndroidAPS phone hasn't reported a loop. Check that phone and its pump connection.
With your own Monitor Glucose server, the messages can be more precise, for example "Libre connection down" when the LibreLinkUp connection fails.
Will alarms sound when my phone is locked?
For the most reliable alarms overnight, leave the app open in the night view with the phone charging: the night view keeps the screen dimmed and awake so alarms can play. Keep the phone's volume up, and allow notifications for Monitor Glucose.
How do I set different zones for night and day?
Settings › BG zones & time ranges. Add a time range, then set its red, yellow and green limits. The night view and graph colour each reading with the zone for its time of day.
